The Importance of Playtime for your Cat

Updated: Dec 1, 2022

Playtime is so important in any Kitty’s life. It’s the most fun time of the day for me. I like to play when I get up in the morning and I’ve just had a long sleep after I wake my people up to feed me. Meow! I get a burst of energy and I get lots of exercise and my heart starts pumping and I feel loved and happy and I feel like I’m hunting. We play games together and make noise and I get to jump in the air. I feel connected to them and I know they really care about me. Then I get all tired out and have to take a break but already my day feels good and I’m full inside but then I can take another nap and have yummy kitty dreams.

So this is what “They Say” about Playtime for Kats:

It’s vital in a cat’s life providing much needed exercise. Just like kids need exercise and play so do we. We bond with our family, it stimulates our big kitty brains so we’re not bored and have a fulfilling life even though we’re inside instead of outside hunting in nature. Exercise is a necessity for a cat to lead a long and healthy life. It’s a part of our biology and it simulates the natural prey stalking instincts. We’re hunters by nature so it helps us stay mentally fit and stimulated which equals happiness for us. Without playtime and exercise, cats can develop some bad kitty behaviors as coping mechanisms and not feel so well or become anxious.

If we’re in a new home, playtime can also help us get to know and trust our new people.

We need playtime for physical and mental enrichment, stimulation, socialization, exercise, fun, love and bonding to be a happy and healthy, well adapted Kat and friend for a good, long life.
